Agriware Team | 5 Questions for Product Owner Ted Ober

At Mprise Agriware, our motto is "People First." But who are the people behind Agriware? Meet Ted Ober— a technology enthusiast, senior business analyst, product owner, keyboardist, and avid hiker.

1. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy listening to or making music. In my free time, I play as a keyboardist in a cover band. The band consists of five people, and we play a variety of songs from the early 80s to today. I also enjoy taking long walks with our dog. Walking—whether with or without the dog—is an ideal way to reflect on things.

2. What makes horticulture an interesting world for you?

I’ve been fascinated by technology since I was young. The horticulture sector is characterized by a high level of automation, combined with robotics and climate technology. With the Agriware 365 platform, we operate at the intersection of all these. Coordinating all these processes together is a great challenge.

3. Which Agriware moment will always stay with you?

The first visit to a client. I used to work in the housing corporation sector, where it was quite common to visit a client in a suit the first time. So, there I was, in my blazer and dress shoes. Not exactly the work attire you'd encounter in a greenhouse. I quickly learned my lesson. But kidding aside, what really stuck with me from that visit was the sheer scale of the company and the complexity of the operation. Since then, I’ve been to the greenhouse many times, and every time, I’m still impressed. That never changes.

4. Where do you prefer to go on vacation? We live close to the coast, so I prefer going to the hills or mountains for vacation. If possible, I like to go to a more remote place—Norway, Switzerland, or Scotland. In Scotland, there’s a small town called Whitebridge, with a few lodges. That’s my favorite spot.

5. What do you like to watch or listen to? (Music/film/art/books) And here we’re back to question 1. It probably won’t surprise you that I choose music. I don’t have a specific favorite genre. I enjoy progressive rock (Pink Floyd, Genesis), as well as jazz and classical music. But I also enjoy Americana. It depends on my mood. But if I had to choose—let’s say you’re on a deserted island and can only bring one album—then it would definitely be Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd.
